Join us on a mountain biking adventure in South Africa! During this 8-day adventure, we will introduce you to the most beautiful trails around Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Jonkershoek. Discover the trails the pros ride during the Cape Epic and finish at one of the many wine estates for a dip into Cape Town's culture. This is Africa as you haven't seen it before!

Explore MTB trails that showcase the region's diverse landscapes and immerse yourself in local culture with a visit to the Western Cape, Robben Island and a variety of wine estates in Stellenbosch.
Indulge in culinary experiences such as beer tasting at a local brewery, wine-food pairings and
picnics at top wineries (something this region is truly known for)!


For the ultimate bucket list experience, also go on a heli-biking excursion, reaching inaccessible trails by helicopter! Or join for a full day safari at Aquila Private Reserve.

Itinerary:

Day 1:  Welcome to Cape Town, the Mother City - home to the iconic Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, Robben Island and much more. This vibrant city is the start of your 8-day Western Cape MTB Adventure. Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the bustling heart of the city.
Move into your accommodation at The Grey Hotel, located in Cape Town's vibrant De Waterkant neighborhood. This boutique hotel offers modern amenities, including a rooftop bar and pool: the perfect setting for relaxation. With some free time, you can explore the city's sights or just relax and enjoy the lively atmosphere. In the evening, prepare for a culinary journey like no other during a welcome dinner


Dayg 2:  Get ready for an exciting trek through Table Mountain National Park. Spend the morning on scenic trails and rugged terrain while enjoying the breathtaking views.

After the tour, you will be transferred to Tryn, a contemporary restaurant in the Constantia Valley Estate, where you will enjoy a 3-course lunch menu.
In the afternoon, sail by ferry to Robben Island for a tour of this historic site where Nelson Mandela, among others, was detained during the apartheid era. As evening approaches, you will have free time to explore Cape Town at your own pace.


Day 3: On this day of your MTB adventure, get ready to explore the trails of Tokai. Blood, sweat, and granny
gears are the order of the day, with a range of trail configurations awaiting you as you wind your way
through working plantations and indigenous forest. After your exhilarating ride, prepare for a unique culinary experience in the historic Bo Kaap. 

Known for its brightly coloured houses and steep cobbled streets, Bo Kaap is a vibrant neighbourhood rich in history and culture. It is home to the Cape Malay community, whose heritage is reflected in the area's traditional cuisine and architecture.You will enjoy a lunch featuring a variety of traditional local dishes. This culinary experience will immerse you in the flavours and traditions of Cape Malay cuisine, offering a delightful blend of
spices and tastes unique to this historic area.


Day 4:  This is a day you won't forget for the rest of your life! Today you will have your choice of three different activities: Helibiking in Jonkershoek or Safari in Aquila Reserve. Don't want to do either? Then you can join us at Botelary Hills for a relaxing ride. If you join the Heli-Experience you can get yourself ready for a day filled with flight hours, cool trails and a delicious picnic. If you go to Aquila you have the chance to come face to face with the Big 5. If you choose Botelary Hills then you'll come face-to-face with the unique trails of Stellenbosch's wine country. In the afternoon the group will meet again and you will have free time.


Day 5: On day 5 of this MTB adventure, you will be taken to the picturesque town of Stellenbosch, known for its world-class wine estates and breathtaking landscapes. Today, the entire group will explore the Jonkershoek Valley, home to perhaps the best trails in the southern hemisphere! Be amazed by flow, tech and everything in between.

After the ride, a traditional South African braai (barbecue) and wine tasting awaits you at Middelvlei Estate, known for its hospitality and authentic South African cuisine. Enjoy local dishes grilled to perfection amidst the breathtaking scenery of the vineyard.
After your lunch experience, you will be transferred to your luxurious accommodation at the 5-star Coopmanhuijs Boutique Hotel & Spa in Stellenbosch.


Day 6: On day 6 of your MTB adventure, get ready for another exciting day as you are transferred to Wellington for a guided ride at Welvanpas. Nestled between the breathtaking Hawekwa and Groenberg mountain ranges, Welvanpas farm sets the stage for an unforgettable ride. The route offers mostly singletracks that wind through orchards, vineyards, waterfalls and pristine fynbos. The route is challenging, but you will be rewarded with breathtaking views. After the ride, enjoy a delectable 3-course choice menu with wine tasting at Diemersfontein.


Day 7: On the last cycling day of your MTB adventure, you will be taken to Oak Valley in Elgin for one last ride! The Oak Valley MTB Trails are known for some of the finest riding experiences in South Africa! After the ride, enjoy a leisurely lunch and wine tasting at Oak Valley Estate.
After your lunch and wine tasting, you will be transferred back to your accommodation in Stellenbosch.  As the day draws to a close, prepare for a memorable farewell dinner to conclude your MTB adventure. Enjoy a sumptuous farewell dinner in the beautiful Coopmanhuijs.


Day 8:  On this final day you have plenty of time to pack your bags. We will transport you to the airport aprox 2.5 hours prior to your flight. In case time allows us we can climb Table Mountain (by foot or by cable cart). This way you say South Africa a proper goodbye.

Who can join?: This trip is designed for every adventurous mountain biker! You are a (slightly) advanced XC/trail rider. You are capable of a minimum of 4 hours per day for the entire length of the trip. You have experience descending in rocky/steep terrain. Unsure of your level? Check our levels here or sign up for a clinic. We can also create an alternative program for the 'non-cycling partner'!
