Mt Kilimanjaro Trekking

Embark on a true adventure with our mt. kilimanjaro Trekking! Togeth with a team of local guides you will trek the Nothern Circuit all the way to the summit and down.

The Northern Circuit is like the new kid on the block when it comes to climbing Kilimanjaro. It's the
longest route, but also the one with the best chance of making it to the tippy top. It starts off
following the Lemosho Route for a couple days, but then goes off on its own path to the quieter
northern side of the mountain. Eventually, it loops around to the eastern side and takes you to the
tippy top through Gilmans Point. On the way back down, you'll follow the same path as the
Machame and Lemosho routes.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival day

When you get to Kilimanjaro International Airport, our representative will be there to meet and pick you up after you go through customs. You'll then go to Chanya Lodge in Moshi where you'll have a meeting with your climbing guide for your tour briefing and equipment check. You'll spend the night
at Chanya Lodge before starting your climb

Day 2 - Start of an adventure!

So, after you finish eating breakfast at your hotel, your guide will give you a quick rundown of what to expect. At 9am, our team will pick you up and drive you to the Western side of Mt. Kilimanjaro, specifically to the Londrossi Gate. Here, our guides and porters will get all the equipment and supplies ready for your adventure. You'll get a packed lunch and register with the Kilimanjaro Park office before driving another 45 minutes to Lemosho Glades, where your trek will start by going up into the rainforest. You'll hike for about 3 hours through the dense rainforest, which might be pretty wet and muddy.
Make sure you have your gaiters and trekking poles handy! We'll take a break during the trek so you can enjoy your packed lunch. By late afternoon, we'll reach the Mti Mkubwa Camp, also known as 'Big Tree' Camp.

Day 3 - GMti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1
From the forested slopes of Lemosho you ascend through a podocarpus and juniper forest and then break out on to a zone of heather and lichen-draped volcanic rock and the Shira Plateau, which used to be Kilimanjaro’s third peak before it collapsed. Lunch is taken on the trail and you arrive in camp mid-afternoon. The view of Kibo (the peak of Kilimanjaro) is breathtaking from this vantage point. Overnight at Shira 1 Camp.

Day 4 - Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Once you finish breakfast, you'll keep hiking up the Shira plateau to Shira Camp 2, which is at 3,850 meters high. You'll meet up with other hikers from the Machame Route and get to see some awesome views of the valley below and the Western Breach of Kilimanjaro above. Since the plateau is wide open, make sure you bundle up because it's going to be a chilly night with temperatures dropping below zero.

Day 5 - Shira 2 Camp to Moir Camp
As we move away from the forest, we'll walk up a not-too-steep hill that will lead us to the Shira Caldera. From there, we'll head to Shira Cave where we can see the amazing Arrow glacier. We'll set up camp here for the night at 4200m above sea level.

Day 6 - Moir Camp to Buffalo/Pofu Camp
We hiked up out of the Moir Valley and made a quick stop to reach the tippy top of Lent Hills, which is high up at 15,400 feet! We took a break to check out the awesome views before heading back down to the trail. Then we kept on walking east on the northern circuit trail. The last part of our hike today is up and down until we finally make it to Pofu Camp.

Day 7 - Buffalo Camp/Pofu to Third Cave
As we hike from Pofu Camp, we pass through lots of little valleys on our way to Third Cave Camp. The scenery changes as we head east, with less and less plants around us. Finally, we make it to Third Cave Camp after a long trek.

Day 8 -Third Cave Camp to School Hut Camp
As we hike up to the saddle, it feels like we're walking on the moon with the mountains of Kibo and Mawenzi on either side. After that, we keep going up until we reach School Hut in the afternoon. We spend the rest of the day relaxing and getting ready for the big climb to the summit.

Day 9 - School Hut Camp to UHURU PEAK & to Crater Camp
In the morning we start our journey to summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. This part is tough, both mentally and physically. We climb slowly for a few hours, taking lots of quick breaks. The path gets really rocky as we make our way up to Gilman's Point at 18,600 feet. From there, we can see thesummit sign far away. We keep going around the rim of the crater until we finally reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
After that, we head down a bit to Crater Camp where the rest of the crew will set up our camp. You can choose to hike to Reutsch Crater and the ash pit, or just check out the Furtwangler Glacier area. Sleeping up so high can be risky, so the guides will keep a close eye on you to make sure you're okay.
It's important to acclimate to the altitude properly to avoid getting sick.

Day 10 - Crater Camp to Mweka Camp
After breakfast at Crater Camp, we're heading down to Mweka Hut campsite. We'll take a break at Barafu for lunch. The path is rocky and can be tough on your knees, so bring trekking poles if you have them. Mweka Camp is in the upper forest, so be ready for some mist or rain in the evening. We'll have our final dinner on the mountain and then get some well-deserved sleep.

Day 11 - Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
As we make our way down on the final day, we head to Mweka Gate to get our certificates for reaching the summit. The trail might get a bit messy and slippery as we go lower. After reaching the gate, we walk for another hour to get to Mweka Village. A ride will be waiting for us there to take us back to the hotel in Moshi.

Day 12 - Departure Day
After breakfast in the hotel depending on your flight time you can have time to explore or relax and
wait for your transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your departure flight back home or continue with
your holiday with wildlife Safari tour or go relax on Zanzibar Island Beaches. Contact us for more
